Join us for an evening of intimate opera as true music theater.
We visit a theater family across three decades (1986, 1996, 2016), as they try to care for each other while facing the modern challenges of celebrity, abandonment, AIDS, loss, depression, alcoholism and ultimately uncover a tragic family secret. Heggie and Sheer tell McNally’s story with brilliant lyrics and open-hearted honesty--at times funny, at times poignant. The music is personal and warm, with engaging ensemble writing, complex and clever recitative, and beautiful tuneful melodies. The singers are actors.
